Hi,

I wonder if anyone can give me any pointers?
I would like to fool-proof entry of botanical data formatted in the latin binomial, as Genus species e.g. Agrostis capillaris.

There are many species within each genus e.g.

Genus Species
Agrostis capillaris
Agrostis vinealis
Agrostis curtisii
Agrostis stolonifera

And many genera and species in my list!

Ideally I would like users to be able to enter the first three letters of each part of the binomial and for Excel to do the rest (where there are multiple matches allow user to pick from list). However, I would settle for users being able to enter the first x letters of a genus and then pick from a list of species within it.

I'm not looking for a full solution but for someone to tell me whether this is feasible within Excel and, if so, to point me in the right direction with regard to the functions i would use.

Many thanks
Al
