    Problem with Solver

    Hi,

I'm having trouble with the solver in Excel 2007.

Please look in the attached spreadsheet.

I want to mimimize cell F22 by changing the value in B18, with the constraints that C25 is equal or larger than 0.48 and that B18 is a value btween 0 and 0.9927.

When I try to do this i get the message "Error in model. Please verify that all cells and constraints are valid."

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Re: Problem with Solver

I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. When I copy it into Quattro Pro (a fairly old version) and use their Optimizer, I get a solution at B13=0.575. (Using the bisection method, it didn't take very long for me to get that solution manually, either) I do note that, because of the way F22 and C25 change, the minimum occurs at the exact point where C25=0.48. This is because, unconstrained, F22 is unbounded (has no minimum), so the minimum occurs at the point where the constraint is met. Since I can't view your Excel file directly, all I can think of is that you have specified something in the Solver model different from your written description here.
