Black out certain cells if the column contains X

    Hi Guys,

I think this will be done by conditional formatting but do not know how to represent "This Coulmn" in the formula.

I'm looking for a way if the column reads "XXX" in the top cell to black out the 3 cells below it. and then 9th and 11th cell down.

The cells below cannot contain a formula as they must all be able to contain text.

I can make a conditional format for it to apply to one column but as i need this to work over the whole page but restricted to the text only affecting each own column without having to make a different conditional format rule for each column.

    Please can someone help?

    Kind Regards

    Mark

...I can make a conditional format for it to apply to one column but......
Which is your formula for this?
    Which is your range?
