    Cell highlighting box has disappeared.

Was working away on one of my spreadsheets and the black square that surrounds the cell you click on has vanished.
i.e. if you click on cell A1, you normally get a black square surrounding the cell A1 to let you know that you are on it. That black square has disappeared.

It seems to affect any spread that I open but if I open a new spreadsheet it is there. Any ideas? Like most of my posts I am probably doing something stupid .

Others that have run into this issue have had success by restarting their computers. Have you attempted this yet?

No. I restarted excel only. Will try that now. Cheers for your input.

The problem is now fixed. Don't know why though. I did absolutely nothing to fix the problem. I had to leave the computer on over night to run a antivirus scan. Came back in this morning and its fine. I never even got to restart the pc as LarryLegend had said. My guess is magic computer fairies came in in the middle of the night and fixed it for me.
