    specific template or spreadsheet

    Hello all,
I am basically looking to have a template/spreadsheet where I can enter someone's name, address, phone #, and amount paid for that day that keeps a running total on the amount they have paid, with room to add another date and payment just to keep track on how much I am making per week and who is paying the most. I am basically running an equestrian center where people come and pay to use the facility at their leisure and just want to keep track on who is paying what and how much. Thanks a bunch

    Welcome to the Forum!

I don't know of a template just like what you've described but try the attached. There are three worksheets. The first one is a list of the payments for each day. Select the client name from the dropdown box. The second one is a list of all clients. There is no reason to repeat the client's address and phone number every time they make a payment; just record it once here. This is also used as the list of client names to populate the dropdown boxes. The third is a pivot table that shows the payments by week for each client. To update the pivot table, right-click anywhere in the table and select Refresh.

The formatting isn't fancy but first let me know if this is what you need.

A pivot table is an Excel feature. It allows you to select a set of data then it "slices and dices" it however you want to group things for analysis. It is one of Excel's most powerful tools and every Excel user should learn how to use them. You will find countless explanations and examples on the internet if you search for "Excel pivot table". I suggest you set aside 15 minutes sometime to do that.

Post back to this thread if you have questions or problems after you start to use the file for real data.

    Hello,
I added a client's name and then just simply changed one of the entries you already had to that particular client's name and it won't show up on the pivot table. I alphabetized the client list, which I hope shouldn't matter, and the drop down menu on the "daily" sheet worked fine but it won't show up on the pivot table. Please help.
