    Remove trailing zeros?

I have searched on this but haven't been able to find an answer...hopefully I didn't just miss it.

I have a co-worker who recently had an issue where trailing zeros were being deleted in Excel. For instance, the number she copied and pasted was 44500 and it was simply showing up as 445 after the paste. I have played around with the formatting, but I haven't been able to duplicate this issue. Is there a format that would do this? Anything else?

    Thanks,
    arreferee

    Re: Remove trailing zeros?

There is an option in Excel to set the number of decimal places automatically when you enter data into a cell - for example, if you are entering a lot of monetary data, you can set this up so that you can enter 595 and this will be treated as 5.95, without you having to type the decimal point. Perhaps you co-worker has his/her file set up for this.

To change it (or to investigate if this is the cause), click on the Office button and then select Excel Options (at the bottom of the panel), then click Advanced, and look at the setting for the second option - Automatically insert a decimal point. This should be unchecked. Then click OK.

    Hope this helps.
