Trying to group columns C-H, then another group I-K without combining into one group

I have seen this question asked before, but no relevant answer was provided. Can one group several columns together and then group another set of columns without a break in between the 2 groupings. For example, I need the ability to hide rows C-H, and as a separate grouping be able to hide I-K. When I try to do this it I can group C-H then when I try to group I-K it combines both groupings into 1 group C-K. I do not want to have a blank column in between groupings. Is this possible?

You should insert a new column I and reduce the width to just a few pixels - don't hide it completely, otherwise you won't be able to hide or expand the first group independently. Then you can group C-H and J-L. I know you said you don't want this, but it's hardly visible if you make it 3 pixels wide.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response from across the ocean. I was afraid that was the only way to accomplish this. I appreciate the clarification.
