I would like to have a file that can be accessed with password (A) that allows editing and accessed with password (B) that is a "Read Only". Is this possible or do I have to get involved with protecting cells ? I have 2 employees that need full access and several others that I need to be "Read Only" status.
What is the best way to accomplish this ?

review-> protect sheet and check what you want.

Yes vlady, it will be on a shared drive. Several departments and employees will have access to the data contained within the file. However, I only want two managers to be able to edit data. Just trying to make it as simple as possible.

In "Review Menu"
share workbook there are options there to select the users, put passwords, choose the users who can edit the workbook.
but this option of excel(shared workbooks) is prone I think in corruption of data.
