How can I get Excel to skip text when graphing data?

Excel is graphing all my text cells as 0 and I want it to ignore them as if they were empty cells. I have several years of data and there are some notes that I want to keep in the data sheets.

That's just how Excel charts handle text data. The detailed answer probably depends on exactly how your data are arranged. I expect that the final solution is going to involve having a copy of the chart data that has the text data removed.
