    Auto Sort or Auto Filter?

    Hi Everyone!

I'm working on a spreadsheet that I need to have excel automatically pull the rows with text to the top of the spreadsheet and move the rows to the bottom of the spreadsheet. The idea behind the workbook is only one sheet should have all the data entered on to it, and the rest will automatically populate.

So the attached workbook is an example of what I'm attempting to accomplish. The first sheet is the data entry sheet, entitled "List of Officers", and what job site they are assigned to. The second sheet is set to automatically pull all information for the job site "Deans Ice Cream". If you look at the spreadsheet entitled "Deans Ice Cream", you'll see that there are rows with blank information inbetween the rows with text, because the sheet did what it was suppose to and only pulled the "Deans Ice Cream", leaving out the "Jewel" information.

Now, what I would like to be able to do is set the spreadsheet so excel will automatically pull all that information to top and move all the blank rows to the bottom, without manually having to use the filter/sort.

(Remember, only one spreadsheet is meant to be touched. And the other users should never ever have to do anything with any sheet that is not the "List of Officers" sheet.)

Is it the way I've moved the data between spreadsheets, or is there an automatic sort function that I'm unable to locate?

Any and all help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    V

    Hi!

Have you considered recording macro for this? See example http://excel4everything.blogspot.fi/...ecord-vba.html

If the recorded macro needs fine tuning, you can modify code directly.

The only issue with that is those who will be using the spreadsheet have extreme limited knowledge of excel. Having them run a macro is most likely out of their league.
