The negative numbers in my currency format does not have any numbers with parenthesis or minus, is there any way that the default format can be changed other than always trying to use a custom format.

Try these formats
$#,##0.00
or
$#,##0.00_);($#,##0.00)
These can aso be found the 'currency' tab of 'Format cells'
Life's a spreadsheet, Excel!
Say thanks, Click *
I tried that one before and it works, but is there anyway that I can change the default setting in the currency negative format, because it means that I must do custom formatting of numbers each time I have a worksheet that have such numbers.
The negative formats which I have in currency is
-1,234.10
1,234.10 (red)
-1,234.10
-1,234.10 (red)
can't i get (1,234.10) etc as my default settings
Right-click the style in the style gallery, click Modify, and change it as you wish.
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate
Thanks guys, examples of the numbers in my worksheet are below. why can't my numbers have a default setting of (626.40). Do I have to reinstall the programme, some of my computers in the lab have the () and others only the minus.
$8,096.00
-626.40
-4,593.60
2,952.60
94,051.60
-2,171.40
7,316.10
-3,595.75
1,898.40
Did you try what I suggested?
