    Reorganize data

    Dear all,

I’m a student in my last year of university and for my dissertation I’m doing an archival based research. I work with the Datastream database to extract data, so now I have the required data in an Excel sheet. I have to upload that data in Eviews (statistical program), but in order to do that it needs to be rearranged. That’s where my knowledge of Excel reaches its limits and I can’t seem to find an answer to my question on the internet. Can someone please help me?

    Current order:
    Company A - data X Company A - data Y Company A - ... Company B - data X Company B - data Y Company ... - ...
    Year 1
    Year 2
    ...
    Year 11

    OR

    Company A Company B ...
    Year 1
    Year 2
    ...
    Year 11

With for every data type a new Excel sheet.

    Goal:

    Year1 Year2 ... Year11
    Company A Data X
    Company A Data Y
    Company A ...
    Company B Data X
    Company B Data Y
    ... ...

Thank you for taking the time to look at this!

    Re: Reorganize data

Do you have a sample that you can upload?

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

    Re: Reorganize data

Your post 1 stays there will be 2 types of raw data (rather raw data in 2 formats). But your sample file shows only 1.

    Re: Reorganize data

Thanks for looking at it. The second sample (option 2) is now also uploaded. I retrieved the data in 2 different ways, option 1 and option 2, but it's the same data. I'm not sure which one is easiest to work with, that's why I saved them both.

This is a sample of 4 companies (not 3 as I previously said), but in reality this dataset has more than 2000 companies.

    Thanks again!

Since its the same data, its fine if only 1 is automated? Or you need both automated?
