Exclamation Important: Certain mobile applications not respecting workbook protection

I have an "application" I created with a userform, so my workbook contains one sheet which launches the userform where all the work is to be done. Everything else is xlSheetVeryHidden, VBA is password protected, and workbook structure is password protected also.

I had it saved to my Android phone, and opened it with Office Suite Pro. Lo and behold, every worksheet is unhidden and unprotected. Not a password to be found. I realize that workbook and worksheet protection is designed as just that, protection, not encryption, but where does this mobile application get the idea that it's okay to crack people's protection and display all the contents?

I've not tested this yet with other applications, but does anybody else have any experience to share?

The software vendor will be getting an email from me shortly.

It doesn't have to support VBA to retain workbook and worksheet protection. Docs To Go retains all the protection that was set in place in the original worksheet.

Re: Important: Certain mobile applications not respecting workbook protection

I'm passing the information on to a large collection of Excel users who likely also have smartphones. I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression that this piece of information would be appreciated by some users of this form who may distribute protected workbooks to mobile users.

must admit it does seem a bit odd that protection is that easily circumvented
