I have some files generated by another program which have the extension '.out'. When I open these in Excel 2012 by just double-clicking on them (after setting the file association in Win 7), they open with each row in a single cell (the first column). i.e. no column delimiting.
The files are nominally comma-delimited (CSV-like), but they also have some fields that are separated by semicolons. To make them import properly, I need to first start Excel, then open the file. This brings up the Text Import Wizard, where I can then set the delimiters as needed.
I'm wondering if there is any way to get Excel to open '.out' files using comma and semicolon as delimiters automatically when I double-click on the file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
EB
