Hiding unused columns and rows slows down excel?

I like the look of when only the used columns and rows are shown. I like to hide all unused columns and rows, and have the background and a minimalist spreadsheet.

HOWEVER, is it just me, or does Excel move a lot slower when thousands of rows and columns are hidden? Particularly, opening files seems to be slower. I'd love to delete them entirely from existence, so Excel only has a few rows and columns to work with, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

    Anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Diakonos1984,

Hiding / Unhiding rows & columns should not be culprit for slowing down.. can you attach the excel file (after removing sensitive data, if any) ?

Just the fact of rows/columns being hidden will not slow anything down.

What might be slowing things down is the ACTION of actually hiding them.
If you're using some kind of Event Based code to hide them, it could be that they are being Hidden and RE hidden very frequently.

Can you explain HOW you have the unused rows/columns Hidden?
And post any VBA code that is used to do it?
