Format rows based on predecessor value in a column

    Hi

I would like to format rows based on immediate predecessor value of a cell in a column. Please refer to the attached spreadsheet showing the befor and after where the expected result is shown.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use Pivot Table, refer the attached file for details.

Thank you for your reply. This does not format the way I had shown. I would like all rows to be formatted and no total shown.
    Thanks

You can remove the total by just placing the cursor in E23 cell and do right click and deselect Subtotal.

Then you should go for VBA solution, but from my point of view merging the cells are not a good method of having data.
