Hi,
I have a feeling the answer is no to this, but figured i'd ask on the off chance!
In Excel 2010 is it possible to make certain cells unselectable, whilst making certain other cells selectable but not editable?
Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to the forum,
By default, the property of a cell is 'Locked'. When you protect a worksheet, it asks which cells the user can select. If you choose Locked and Unlocked cells then you can select both. If you choose only Unlocked cells then the user can never select a Locked cell. The second part (to the best of my knowledge) requires vba. It would be simply once a user selects a cell, the value or formula in the cell is saved in memory. If the user changes the contents of the cell, then the macro returns the original data again. You can also put a pop up saying that these cells are not to be modified. I have code somewhere for this that another member wrote. Let me see if I can find it for you.

I learnt so many things from these links.
Thanks for the replies both
abousetta - i think the vba you described is what i need, if you could find it that'd be really good of you thanks.
ragavan - thanks for the link, but it's not quite what im after. I basically want to be able to stop the selection of specific locked cells, but also have users able to select other locked cells - sorry if that doesn't make too much sense
Hi,
I have just had a look around and found the vba which does as you described in the following thread:

Thanks again for your help
This approach is even better than the one I saw before. @DonkeyOte is a real pro. Unfortunately, he doesn't come around this neck of the words any longer.
