Conditional Drop Down Lists in Excel 2007

Hi, I'm using Excel 2007 and am trying to set up 3 columns of drop-down lists each dependent on the choice selected in the previous column's selection. It seems like it would be easy to figure out but I can't seem to do it.

I've already set up the arrays for the lists and "named" them but can't get the cell to be formatted automatically according to the previous columns selection. Can anyone help out? Much thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum

See if the attached will get you headed inthe right direction? It used =INDIRECT() for the 2nd DV - Im sure you shuld be able to duplicate this for a 3rd drop-down

Thanks for your quick response! I'm not sure if this will work for what I'm doing. I'll try to explain my intentions better.

I'm keeping accounting records on pool cue repairs I'm doing, including various parts and labor. I have a list of categories from the original drop-down. It includes Tips, Ferrules, Butt Caps, and Labor. The first three have numerous options to choose from and corresponding costs. For example: if I choose "Tips" from the first drop-down I want it to automatically produce/reference another drop-down showing the different "tip" options in the next column, and then display the unit cost of that tip in the third column. I'm not sure if the INDIRECT function accomplishes this. I have to admit to being a novice at the more complex functions in Excel.

I attached a copy of what I've set up so far. The cell I formatted under the "Item" column was specifically off the data set undr the "materials" worksheet, and NOT dependent on what was selected under the "Class" column which is what my ultimate goal is.

    Thanks!
