Range security on protected then unprotected sheet

I use a simple excel template with my clients. When they first get it there are hidden columns that are protected; no issue here. When they complete the first section I give them the password to unprotect the file and unhide the rest of the columns they need. My challenge is that I have some equations off to the right of the columns that they work with and I want the range of those equations to be un-accessible to my clients even after they unprotect the worksheet. Does anyone have an idea on how to make this happen?

    Hi bbaterman,

    welcome to the forum.

    those equations to be un-accessible
by un-accessible do you mean :-
    1) client can't see this
    2) client can see but can not edit.

    ?

Re: Range security on protected then unprotected sheet

    Hi dilipandey,

Both. Making it unable for them to see is easy. I simply turn the cells where the equations are to a font color of white and they cannot be seen. The part I'm struggling with is when the client unprotects the sheet to enable un-hiding of the additional columns, everything in the worksheet, including the equations I'm referring to can be accessed. Clearly, if they don't know the equations are there (because they can't see them), they would have no reason to mess with them. However, if they are able to select those cells they will be able to see something there (the contents appear like a shadow) and that may cause them to be curious, etc., etc. Ideally, I want to keep these cells protected (non-selectable) after they unprotect the sheet to un-hide the additional columns. I hope this clarifies my issue.

    ya.. its clear now.
when client can un-protect the sheet, we can't do anything as per my knowledge

You can try option, allow users to edit ranges but still sheet protection required there.

Maybe put the other info on a seperate sheet, and then hide that sheet?
