Excel cannot open the file '(filename)'.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is

I'm not sure if this is an Excel-specific program or not, so I apologize if I am in the wrong forum. I built and saved multiple worksheets on my computer, and then added them into certain client's Documents tabs in Sage ACT! example, client1summary.xlsx is saved in a folder on my desktop, and in Client1's Documents tab in ACT! I have no problems opening the worksheet on my computer, either from the folder on my desktop, or the Documents tab in ACT!, but if I go to my associate's computer (my whole computer is shared, we both run Windows 7 and Office 2010) and try to open the file from ACT! I get the following message "Excel cannot open the file '(filename)'.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid". This is extremely frustrating, and time consuming, since the whole point of sharing everything on my computer was to not have to stop what I'm doing when my associate needs something that I work on.

This worked for me... delete the temp file found here: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

Saving the file to the Desktop isn't a great idea as icons are easily deleted and in this case if you delete the icon, the file is gone too. The Desktop folder isn't as easily shared as the My Documents folder. Save the file to your My Documents folder that can easily be shared between your computers.
