Post Trouble with zeros at the beginning of numbers

    Hi,
I'm a new to this forum and use Excel 2007. I've inherited lots of spreadsheets in my new job and have run into issues with numbers. I'm currently trying to get the number zero to show up in social security numbers in a spreadsheet. There are no hypens used. I end up with a column of 9 digit numbers and a few eight digit numbers. Can anyone help?

You could always set the number format to 000000000.

Try putting an apostrophe in front of the number: ex: '012345678 (for ssn of 012-34-5678)
