Move part of a worksheet but keep links

I have "inherited" an Excel workbook from someone that is really unwieldy in presentation and difficult to read. I want to break it down and reorder some of the tables and information. To do this I need to copy/ cut parts of different sheets into others. When I do this, I'm finding that I get reference errors even though the source documents are the same. I've tried all kinds of paste special options but none work and I'm not sure if/ how to do this - please help!!

Welcome to the forum.

As there are so many options to make a workbook unwieldy, it will help understanding if you post a sample of your current situation together with an example of what you are trying to achieve - how you want it split.

Ensure that your examples do not contain any sensitive information.

Unfortunately it is all sensitive as it is accounting information. It's basically a set of management accounts - much of which is typed and not in wrapped text cells but line by line with some tables of information that I think need to be broken down.

That said, I have managed to make most of the changes, unfortunately needing to start from scratch and recreate the sheets. I would like to know how to do this anyway.
