Format Cells > Font > Underline: > Accounting - Can you set the color??

I have to set the font color of certain numbers on my report to blue.

Does that mean the underline cannot be black?

I am aware of cell borders, but cannot use them because if two cells are underlined next to each other there is no separation, or space/gap in the borders of each cell.

    Thanks all!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, MacroPolo, but unfortunately, underlining if a property of the text. Therefore when you change text color, it's changing that for all aspects of the text, including strikethroughs, underlines, bolds, etc. I think shading may be different, but that's the only one.

I'm not sure what you mean by your borders statement though. Borders will not effect cell spacing unless you're using more than the standard thickness border. I'd recommend re-examining the use of borders if it is vital to get a different colored underlining to the report that you're working on.

    Good luck!

Yeahhhh I figured that had to be how it worked. I dont know what to do then.

If I put a bottom border on three cells that are in consecutive columns and in the same row - C5, D5, E5 - it will be one solid line, with no gaps or spaces.
If I use the accounting underline on cells C5, D5, E5 there will be small breaks or gaps between the lines, which is what I'd like.

Ok that was my best attempt at explaining it lol, I'm not exactly a professional writer. Example

I need those gaps in the lines in order to to show separation and was hoping to not have to insert unnecessary columns. Unnecessary columns are an Excel no-no!
