Excel advanced filtering on multiple sheets

    Hi all,

I am doing a project with these instructions:

The state, capital and population of all states with a population greater than 10 million or less than 1 million. (population)
The state, tree and bird of all states with a bird or tree that starts with Eastern or Western (symbols)
The state, population and area of all states with area between 100,000 and 200,000 (area)

I am having troubles with selecting just the three criteria (state, capital, and population) on my Population worksheet. Attached is my work. The copied filter keeps copying all of the data in the data set, and not those three. Any suggestions?

    HI blind527,

I am having troubles with selecting just the three criteria (state, capital, and population) on my Population worksheet.
How are you selecting ? I guess you would write the criteria in c2 and d2 but then how would you give (select) criteria for population ? can you share an scenario and your expected results associated with that? thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by what you said. For the data range I selected the entire table with the headers included, and for the criteria I selected just the top portion with the headers included. It wouldn't allow me to select certain columns as I only need three of them columns for this one sheet.

See the attached file where I used the small table on top left as criteria and other table as data range and performed an "advanced filter" and found no issues - I had to correct the criteria positions though

I found that your Criteria headings were not an exact match for the headings of the data columns and they have to match exactly. That caused your filter(s) to fail.
