saveas saves as the previous version

Greetings and please excuse if this problem sounds like it belongs somewhere else, but I'm at the limit of my expertise. For a few months now I have suspected that xlsx docs that I saved and then later saved as, then sent to someone else for their input were not being sent as what I thought they were. This morning I got my proof but I don't know if it's an Excel problem or a Windows problem or maybe something bigger.
Specifically, the doc I saved as was sent on Friday morning to an associate. He subsequently told me he couldn't use it as it contained info not germane to the project. I immediately realized that he was referring to things in the saved version, not the saved as. When I went to the email from Friday and opened the attachment, It had the right name but the wrong, and older information. When I open the same document from my files, it is correct.
Can someone tell me if this is a bug in my copy of Excel or if this is going to require a fix to the operating system or worse.

Are you sure this isn't just a mistake and the wrong file was sent?

How exactly are you saving the file and how are you sending it?

Have you tried sending from within Excel?
If posting code please use code tags, see here.

Thanks for the quick reply. Absolutely 100% sure the correct file was sent. At least by name. Saving by drop down "save as".
Then later composing email via Outlook and attaching the file. Have never tried sending from within Excel.

Doing it from Excel should ensure the correct file is sent.

That's what I usually do to, even for files I've previously saved I'll open them, check them and then send.

All you need to do is goto File>Save & Send...

Norie, thanks, that's helpful and can work much of the time. Curious if I will have issues sending multiple attached files that way.
Also still mostly concerned why a file that has a specific name contains the data of a different file (the starting point file before I saved as) when I look at it from sent items in Outlook, and the file with the same name in my documents folder contains the correct "saved as" info.
