Cannot insert lines

This just happened today. All of a sudden now when I try to insert lines in a spreadsheet it won't do it.
I mean no message, nothing, nada, zilch. Any ideas?

1. spreadsheet is frozen
2. spreadsheet is password protected with restriction on inserting rows

Thanks, it was frozen. Closed out of excel and reentered.
Did the trick.
