Creating a VennDiagram Or Comparing 3 Lists in Excel

I have a list of names in three different states. I want to compare the lists say A, B, C to create a venn diagram. So, I need to know where Column A and B intersect, A and C, B and C, A and B and C, and just A alone, Just B alone, and just C alone.

So in the example I have posted There are 3 different columns each with different names. I want excel to create columns showing all the info mentioned above. So ex: under the ABC column would only be John and under the BC column would be Shirly.

Please let me know when you get a chance. PS- All columns might not be the same size in my actual data. I was just trying to simplify it to show you the what I was trying to accomplish.

So that doesn't really work because John should only be in ABC not in the double sections as well. So on a venn diagram when I put them in, it would be double counted.

Ultimately I am trying to make a column for each AB, AC, BC, ABC, A, B, C

Anyone else have any ideas? It seems like there should be a better way to do this using software other than excel? I am a little lost here.. I tried making a bunch of if / vlookup statements but it didn't really tie together.

Here is a different solution that fits your spec in terms of identifying who is in what group, although I don't know if the layout suits you.

Here's a different solution in which it actually puts them into the Venn diagram. The table to the right pulls things into the correct catagories and the Arrayed formulas inside the Venn diagram removes the blanks.

I have a list of 17 firms who are in 8 possible states. I need to see/show where there is the highest (next highest, etc) concentration of overlap amongst the firms. I'm thinking a Venn diagram would be perfect, but I can't figure out how to put it into an Excel Graph. I'm looking for something that's accurate and automated not a manual approximation.

Can anyone help me?
