Exclamation Comma Seperated Value Files

First, has anyone used a pocket logger?

Second, and if not, I have a lot of archived data in .pl1 and .pl2 format which can be opened in Excel.

I would get 3 columns of data.

Everything was stable with Excel 2003 and with Excel 2010. But I did something, and I don't know what, and now these supposed three columns of data are read in one column separated by two commas.

Does anyone here understand why this happened? What can be done to reverse this effect?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum

When you import the data/open the file, you should see the excel "convert text to columns" window. Select delimited, and then select , (comma)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

There are hundreds of these files. I will not manually do them each. Do you know why I am experiencing this problem?

Re: Comma Seperated Value Files

These files are extracted from a pocket logger software. It writes into a .pl2 file that has the data separated into three columns. However, the machine this software is on is old and I want to get rid of it. So I transferred over to a Windows 7 machine with Excel 2010. It should still work. But something happened now I get the following output into one column:

Date,Time,Ch1:
09/07/2007,12:26:51.000,10.684
09/07/2007,12:26:51.005,14.957

Before it was just separated into three columns.

Do I need to clarify?
