    Size of an excel-file

    Hi guys,

Weekly i create a report which is pretty big.
Around 776665 cells are filled. Some colums include active formulas.

I thought that my pivot tables took a huge amount of data, so i checked out which was the biggest and if i can find another solution for this because it takes a long time to save and open the file. After i deleted all the pivot tables, the size reduced maybe 50 mb (total size 663 mb).

Do you guys have other tips to keep your file "smaller" with it's size?

    Regards,
    Cris

Can't you do your calculations in wherever it is you pull your data from? and just summarise in Excel? Or have a look at power pivot? Have a look at xlsb as well, the file format substantially reduces the file size

What is your current file format? If possible keep it in .xlsb format

You'd better off only sending a summary of the data to your workbook in the first place - do the calculations in the datasource

    Cells indeed.

The change to .xlsb was huge!
From 663 mb to 10 mb and it opens a lot faster now.

Thank you very much Kyle and SixthSense
