Excel 2007 Saving to Webpage - data is disappearing

I have a workbook that I modify daily and save as a webpage on a shared drive. Recenlty, over the last few weeks, I've had a new problem.

1st - This workbook has about 4 tabs. Let's just call them tab1, tab2, tab3, tab4. I prefer to always save the workbook with tab1 as the page my coworkers will open. Recently, after the save, tab 3 only shows the header rows. I thought maybe this had something to do with my print range so I cleared my print area on tab3. I thought maybe it had to do with hidden rows, so I unhid everything. No change.

The only "fix" (that I really don't like) is that if I save the workbook with tab3 as the tab that opens first, all the data is there! What in the world? If I go back into xlsx, save tab1 as the first tab that opens, tab3 data is missing again. Doesn't this sound really weird? I am the excel guru at my hospital...even with 6000 employees, there isn't anyone that really knows how to fix this! I'm the one they call (Nerd alert).

Could this be some kind of bug? Thanks!

    Hi Acroley,

Does this strange thing happens when your co-workers open this webpage in a web browser? Your excel file is alright, when it's opened in excel?

    Then I might
1.open and check it a different browser.
2.Check the zoom level of the tab3 is same as the other tabs.
3.Remove Any big formulas (if you have, like array formulas) in tab3 and export as a webpage and check.

    Should be a simple bug..

Cool Re: Excel 2007 Saving to Webpage - data is disappearing

Elayaz - Yes....the problem is when they open it in a browser...IE to be exact. It happens to them and to me. I am the only one that can actually open it in Excel and when I open it whether xlsx or html (as long as I'm in Excel), everything is fine.

Tab3 itself doesn't have many complicated formulas...some 'subtotal' formulas but that's about it (aside form some conditional formatting to highlight cells). But the workbook as a whole has some fun stuff in it (I'm an Excel nerd so it has a lot of stuff...links to outside files, sumproducts to outside workbooks, lookups, buttons, dropdown lists, etc etc. However...it's ALWAYS had all that stuff and worked fine for almost a year. This bug is new....within the last few weeks. I use arrays frequently....but I'm about 90% sure I don't have any in this workbook. I'd have to go through a lot of stuff to double check that.

I did change my zoom (I had tab 3 set at width to 1 page so I changed it to automatic). No change.

IE is our default browser in our healthsystem. I'd have to go to about 100 computers and upgrade them to another browser and I really really really don't want to do that. But again, this is such a new bug/issue. It's just weird.

But today when I saved...I had to save a few times...all is good. Do you think this is an Excel bug or an IE bug?

    Thx for your help!

Re: Excel 2007 Saving to Webpage - data is disappearing

Oh and now there's a new issue. The buttons I have on tab1 with links to cell A1 on teach of tab2, tab3 and tab4....those aren't working. The links are fine in xls. When I went to the Excel version of html...the links looked funky. I removed them and then added them again and saved.

I opened in IE and now the links work. But suddenly the data on tab3 is gone again. This is driving me nuts. There is no logic to this issue...and why it's happening now and hasn't been for a year.

So now my question becomes...can I just not save it as html? Can I leave it as xlsx and still allow them to open it in IE? Probably not. What about using "single web page"....I haven't done that before. Would that work even with links, tabs, etc?

    Thanks

To me, it looks more like of web Browser problem, than excel or excel file problem. I would check opening the file in firefox or chrome in any 1 machine. If that works, we can completely rule out excel file problem.

Yes. You may try to save it as single file web page and check it to..

By the way, did the IE version was updated recently? If yes, May be comparability issues.

Also, if possible post the excel file with dummy data.
