Cool While renaming a sheet... bug?

Folks, this is driving me nuts. I'm an experienced Excel user and whilst I can find many threads relating to the above I can't find one that solves my issue. I am however new to Mac Excel 2011 (although I don't think that's an issue).

Occasionally when I try to rename a sheet or reference a cell in a formula Excel has a hernia (see attachment). With the referencing to another sheet within the current workbook it thinks I'm looking for an external file (!{sheetname} it interprets as an external link).

At each occurrence I only have 1 workbook open and there are no hidden ones.

Can you resolve this one for me?

    Thanks
    Mark

The error message shows you are using one of invalid characters in naming a sheet. You can not use chr like /\ when you name a sheet.

Thanks for the offer, but read experienced Excel user/read forums etc

I discovered it's due to sharing of documents.

Once the sharing is removed it works normally.
