    Using colors in if/then statements

I am creating a spread sheet and in a specific cell I have entered the phrase "Enter Description Here". I want that type font to appear in RED. However, when someone over writes that cell and enters any other text, I would like that new text to appear in black. Is that possible? Kind of like an if/then statement for colors. Thanks!

    Hello JoeBell,

    Welcome to the forum.

Here is tip for Conditional Formatting: the condition to be tested must always evaluate to TRUE or FALSE.

I haven't looked at Fotis's workbook, so I may be repeating what he has shown there.

Using the formula option for the Conditional Formatting, you would use this formula and set the format to a red font:
    =A1="Enter Description Here"

Cell A1 either does contain that specific text (TRUE) or it does not (FALSE).

Excel defaults to an "automatic" font color, typically black, so no need to specify a font color when the cell content changes to something different.
