    Linked values in excel

    Hi all,
I'm having a weird issue when I try to link data from one excel file to another.
So, I have 2 excel files. 1 is a dashboard and the second is a master workbook. The latter holds all sales relevant info. The dashboard is linked to the master files and the former pulls information from the latter.
Everytime I open the dashboard file, I get the prompt to edit the links. However, in the pop up, instead of the location being \\server\share\, it shows as being C:\share. Even if I update the links, the next time I open the file, it reverts back to C:\.....
I am thinking that's why I always get the 'edit links' prompt - it's looking in the C drive instead of searching in the server.

Has anyone of you experienced this before? If so, how did you fix this?

    Thanks,
    Amar.

You need to create all the files one the drive you want it to be saved in. Or you can do a find and replace.

That's the thing... both workbooks are on the same server, same share and same sub folder. But for some reason, excel is changing the UNC and pointing it to the C: drive.
