Data Connection pointing to Temporary Internet Files on another user's local drive

    Hi Excel Wizards,

I inherited a workbook with a data connection to a SharePoint list on our company's intranet. However I am looking into the data connection and realize that the URL is pointing to the Temporary Internet Files folder of the user who created the workbook (and is no longer with the company). I want to know if this data connection is still reaching the SharePoint List or is it getting lost by pointing to that folder on another local machine?

    The Data Connection URL is:

    C:\Users\flastname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\8H2VX323\owssvr[1].iqy

    Any insight is much appreciated!
    Thank you,

    -Ramy

That connection is lost. You will continue to hold the last value retrieved. If you have a significant number of these dead links it will affect the performance of your spreadsheet as each time it calculates it tries to re-establish the link. I would suggest the you break the link by selecting the data tab then edit links button. When you break the link it will replace the link with the value.
