Opening two excel files lauches the excel application twice and hence VLOOKUP does not wor

When I open multiple excel files, every file opens by launching the excel application fresh and hence I have multiple excel applicaitons open and when i try to use vloopup, it does not recognize cells from another excel file.

Re: Opening two excel files lauches the excel application twice and hence VLOOKUP does not

    Hi Rajiv,

    welcome to the forum.
I had encountered these type of issues in Excel 2003.
I believe there is an option to include all excel windows in one single window, some thing like "windows in taskbar " or something.
Also, try giving vlookup syntax references using key combination ctrl + Tab or alt + Tab.

In Options, Advanced, the General section, is "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" checked? If so, uncheck it.

Go to the Office Button, Excel Options and Advanced. Scroll down slightly to the Display section and tick/untick 'Show all windows in the Taskbar' as appropriate.

Tried the Excel Options and Advanced. Scroll down slightly to the Display section and tick/untick 'Show all windows in the Taskbar' as appropriate.

It still opens all the excel files as different instanses
