Copying a checkbox from Excel into Powerpoint makes the checkbox look like an L

Not sure if this should go into the PowerPoint forum, but since the solution is probably in Excel I'll ask here. When I create a form checkbox in Excel and then copy-paste it as an Object into Powerpoint... the checkbox looks like an L. The top and right borders are just missing. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

The funny thing is that when I double click the Object, it lets me edit it like in Excel and there the boxes look fine. When I stop editing they get all messed up again.

I'm using Excel and Powerpoint 2007.

Why aren't you directly inserting a checkbox in PowerPoint?
If posting code please use code tags, see here.

It ties in with this thread:

I have a data table that will be generated and pull data from other sources. Then the user has to copy-paste the table into Powerpoint. Generating the table directly in Powerpoint would be much more cumbersome.

The thread in that link makes no reference to PowerPoint.

Right, but the table I am talking about in that thread is what is being copied over to Powerpoint. That's why I can't make the checkbox in PP.
