Format to add row borders based on number of instances

    Hi all,
Im looking for a format formula to add borders to rows based on the number of instances in Row G (which will be hidden later)and was wondering if anyone could help. In the attached example the 'Current' sheet is what we currently are working with, then we manually add the borders and the result is displayed on the 'Borders' sheet. This process is done across multiple books on it would be much more efficient to have Excel do this automatically. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

The formatting of borders in the Conditional Formatting is too limited to do what you want.

This might be able to be done with VBA but I can't do that for you.

Look at it from the other side.

    Standard there are bold lines
    Remove them with CF

Ah, too bad. Do you know of any 2010 Excel plugin that would enhance the conditional format options? Otherwise I will forward this to the VBA section.
    Thanks

Interesting concept, we generally start with a blank page, but is there a standard border set we could use?
    Thanks.

I don't know of such a plugin but the idea of popipipo might be worth exploring.

Sounds good, we've been looking into it and will see if we can get it to work with existing borders.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, it turns out we cant do it this way, we have to manually remove them to print.

I will forward this to the VBA section and see if there is something that can be done.
    Thanks!

Re: Format to add row borders based on number of instances

I had google translate the page and applied the conditional formatting to Cell A2 to add borders to A2:F100 in the attached example. This is on the right track but not quite where we want to be, we currently copy and paste our data (which changes everyday, example on the 'PasteThis' Tab) and are looking to to have the end product look like the 'Goal' Tab, with thick borders around the outside of rows A:F based on the number of instances. Any help in achieving this end product would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.
