Posting Unique Values (Other Than Using Advanced Filter)

I am trying to find an easier way to copy hundreds/thousands of columns containing many duplicate names

    Example:

    Boston
    Boston
    Boston
    Boston
    New York
    New York
    New York
    Chicago
    LA
    LA
    LA
    LA
    LA
    Chicago
    Chicago
    Boston
    Boston

The only way I can do this is by using the Advanced Filter option, but I am pretty sure there used to be a way to use Paste Special and select unique values only. Is there a better way to do this?

Excel 2007 data => remove duplicates
Notice my main language is not English.

There are quite a few ways to go with this, but depends on what you really want and what constitutes better..

Advanced filter would be my first choice, but you can also use a formula.

With a formula you would have to drag down which depending on the size of your list could get resource intensive.

I don't have Excel 2010 for Mac, but Excel 2007+ had an option under the Data tab called Remove Duplicates

Finally, you could use a pivot table.
