I have a Word document in which I want to insert certain cells from an Excel workbook.
When I use "Insert --> Object --> Create from File", it works, (it inserts a Link field), but it imports the entire worksheet. I see no way to just import a named range.
When I use "Insert --> Object--> Text from File", (which, I believe, inserts the IncludeText field), it gives me a "Range" box to enter the named range. But whether or not I use it, I get the error that "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened." I'm sure that's not true; not only can I open the file in Excel, I also created a new and nearly empty workbook to test this problem. It still gives me the corruption error.
Incidentally, the "Text from File" method does work if the external document is CSV. It can also import text from an XLS file (Excel 97-2003), but not as a spreadsheet.
So, I need to either fix this error, or find a way to import a named range using the Link field.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
