    Angry Advanced Filter - major frustration!!

    Hi All,

    I have a page setup which has an advanced filter.
    At this stage, the filter works fine.

    I am then using a simple macro to copy and paste values (so there are no formulas been copied etc) from another page into the appropriate parts of the criteria range of the sheet.
    I am then hoping to run the advanced filter based on these values which have been copied and pasted into the criteria range.

    As far as I am concerned, if I copy and paste data as a value, it should be no different to me just typing the data in?

    As soon as I do this and run the filter, all cells in the list range disappear.
    This happens even if the macro is copying and pasting completely blank cells.

    If I then highlight the criteria range (which at this stage looks completely blank) and press delete and then run the filter again it works - or at least all the data comes back.

    Can anyone help ????

    I reckon you are not actually pasting blank cells-are you copying cells with formulas which return ""?

    Re: Advanced Filter - major frustration!!

    Hi Joseph,

    I did have it setup like that originally which I thought might be a problem so I changed it to this;

    Formula
    A1&B2 = >5

    So its the >5 etc I want to copy over as a value.

    HOWEVER, if cells A1 and B2 are completely blank (which I thought would result in my formula cell been completely blank), I still have the same problem.

    Either way, please tell me there is a solution?

    Thanks

    if the cells are actually empty you shouldn't have a problem-can you post a workbook and say which version of excel you are using

    Hi Joseph,

    Sure this is a simplified version of the sheet;
    - http://www.aspecttrading.com/Other/Example.xlsm or
    - http://www.aspecttrading.com/Other/Example.zipx

    I am running Excel Professional Plus 2010.

    Cells A2:B2, C2:D2, E2:F2 - the user can specify a value such as > 5%.
    If I was to ">" in cell A2 and 5% in B2 the value would display in cell AR7 as ">0.05".

    I then copy cells A7:AS7 and "paste as value" in cell A3 on the sheet "List to be filtered".

    For the advanced filter on the sheet "List to be filtered";
    - List range: $A$5:$AS$49
    - Criteria range: $A$2:$AS$3

    You can run the macro to make this happen automatically.

    As you can see, all the input cells are blank - but if you run the filter, all the data on "List to be filtered" just disappears.

    Thanks
