How I I delete tens of thousands of empty cells?

I am working with a worksheet that has has 26 columns and about 2000 rows. However, somehow Excel has added tens of thousands of rows and columns to it, all of them empty. I know this is causing some memory trouble but I can't find an easy way to get rid of them. At one point I fixed the problem by selecting the cells I was using and starting a new worksheet, but I don't want to have to do that every day. I suspect there's an easy solution, but I don't know it. Thanks.

    Hi
By default Excel WILL have thousands of empty cells. You cannot just delete them, but you can hide them. What is the actual issue you are having.

    - Select the empty columns (first empty column -- hit Ctrl+shift+right arrow key)
    - Right click -- Hide (or simply Ctrl+0)

    - Select the empty rows (first empty row -- hit Ctrl+shift+down arrow key)
    - Right click -- Hide (or simply Ctrl+9)
    Life's a spreadsheet, Excel!

When you want to delete the row?

    If all columns are empty.

If one of the columns is empty.

How many columns do you have.

As you can see you need to provide more information.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.
