Finding lookup result over multiple tabs

    Hi there,

My first post. Have found some related answers but nothing which helps 100%.

Basically, I need either VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH to return a unique value within the sheet but returning a value from across multiple tabs.

I would assume a combination of IF, ISNA, VLOOKUP/INDEX/MATCH but can't seem to get the combo right.

As per the uploaded example, I need excel to find the unit measurement.
Would like to avoid array formula as the sheet will be shared with others, they might accidentally remove the {}.

http://www.xl-central.com/lookup-sin...le-sheets.html Seems to address my exact problem but I can't get it to work.

    Thanks

Assuming you are not using Excel 2013 and you can use the IFERROR formula.

Please Login or Register to view this content.
That is MUCH easier than the website you linked in my opinion.

With re-arange the data and after that a VLookup formula.

    See the attached file.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

Haha, yeah I generally agree it is easier to store data in ONE location in one standardized dataset than configuring complex logic to try and find where it is.

    Quick and effective.
Works perfectly, thanks a bunch mikeTRON.

oeldere, rearranging would have solved this particular problem indeed but this would cause other problems in the original file. just uploaded a dummy spreadsheet here to isolate my particular problem.
    Thanks anyhow!
