Hi there. First time user of this website.
I am trying to collect data from a server. The data comes through as .csv (seperated data), and I am able to get all the useless info/columns out of the way - but I would like to keep a record of how many times these "alarms" come in. Can someone help me form a spreadsheet, or tell me how to go abouts using a tool to simplify my process.

I'm not the best at this and others may have better options but you could give each alarm a value of 1 in column B. Name your column in row 1 Alarm and Occurrence (or whatever works for you). Now you're ready to run a pivot table. Click Insert Pivot table. Select your range, in this case column A and B. Check the alarm and occurrence box in the Pivot table field list. Drag the occurrence field from Row Labels to Values and change the value field setting to Sum. Should look like the attachment.
