Re: Data Validation - Source error

hi there. try to just type in the source. for eg. if you're in Sheet2 & want to refer to Sheet1
=Sheet1!A1:A5

if that doesn't work, go to Sheet1!A1:A5 & put in a Name in the name box below the ribbon & on the left of the formula bar. say you name it "RangeX". then do the data validation
=RangeX

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

Re: Data Validation - Source error

excel 2007 wont allow you to reference another sheet for DV or CF, you have to create a named range on the other sheet, and then use that name in the DV window.

1. highlight the range you want the DV to refer to
2. right-click into the range, and select "name a range"
3. give the range a (simple) name - avoid using spaces
4. where you want the DV to be, select DV, select LIST, under SOURCE type in =rangename
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
