I need to bump data from two different spreadsheets

I have two spend reports from two different years (Spreadsheet A = 2012, Spreadsheet B = 2013) I need to bump against each other to compare line items on certain products to compare savings.

Different products are uniquely identified on each spreadsheet by Vendor Item ID numbers.

Is there a way I can bump every Vendor Item ID "123C" on Spreadsheet A beside every Vendor Item ID "123" on Spreadsheet B to calculate savings on the new lower price?

I have roughly 15,000 items (total, not unique) on each spreadsheet. I have previously run this type of report in MS Access, but was wondering if it was possible to do in Excel.

What do you mean by bump the data?

Do you have a sample of each that you can upload?

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

Re: I need to bump data from two different spreadsheets

    AMarlu1201,

Thanks for the reply. I have attached two sample files with only 3 lines of data each. Now if you can, imagine these two files, with the same fields, except each file has 15,000 line items instead of 3.

I'd like to link the lines in each spreadsheet by the "Mfg Itm ID" column. As you can see, the price for Mfg Itm ID "TRC1" has dropped from "1069.64" in 2012 to "1039.64" in 2013. I need each line of "TRC1" to be linked side by side with last year's price to this year's price, so that I can capture 2013 savings based on Price and PO Quantity (PO Qty.). If there are 2,000 lines of "TRC1", I need 2,000 lines of TRC1 linking last year's price and this year's price, and the same for all other Mfg Itm IDs that appear on both spreadsheets.

    I hope this makes sense.
