sorting data in a column

Hi all

i have a colunm of data eg john……………47521 the column of data is anything from 1000 to 5000 entries.
david………….
………………….58452
james………….75841
mark…………..
………………...51254

what i want to do is align the data so it ends up like john……………47521
david………….58452
james………….75841
mark…………54154
I was hoping there was a function i could use instead of cut and pasting the non aligned data. any help/advice would be appreciated

I see what you mean here is an example (sheet 1 is how the raw data is shown and sheet 2 is how i would like it to look)

i have tried =C4&C5 and drag this down the cells but also move the data that is already aligned. is there a way to align the data with disturbing the data already aligned. Unfortunately its a time consuming process at the moment so any help would be appreciated.
