Change of date format from Excel2010 to Excel2013 (dd/MM/yyyy to dd-MM-yyyy)

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I hope I'm posting in the right sub-forum.
I changed from Office 2010 to 2013 yesterday. Amongst several things that I don't like in the new version is that the date formats in all my worksheets have changed from dd/MM/yyyy in 2010 to dd-MM-yyyy in 2013. I checked my Windows7 OS settings and they are still at dd/mm/yyyy for short date.
Does anybody have an idea what is going on here and how to fix it?
Any help would be very appreciated!
    Thanks
    Michael

I think you should be able to do a right click on the cell (column, row or whatever) go to "format cells", click the "Number" tab, select "Date" in the Category box, then select your format in the "Type" box. Another option is in under the number tab in the category box select "Custom". On the "Type:" line enter dd/mm/yyyy. Please let me know if misunderstood this question.

Thanks for your reply to my post. Yes, I can re-format the date in "Custom". In the "Date" section the format dd/mm/yyyy is not available anymore in my Excel2013, which means that all the date-formats in my existing Excel-sheets have changed to dd-mm-yyyy and I'm quite reluctant to re-format them all. Any other ideas?

Re: Change of date format from Excel2010 to Excel2013 (dd/MM/yyyy to dd-MM-yyyy)

I have this issue with being in Quebec, our dates are ALWAYS the reverse. I found this works BEST:
    Choose DATA
    then choose TEXT TO COLUMNS
then continue to hit "next" till you reach the last step
in the "Column date format" choose the school down in the date to the order you want the cell to change to

ex: 03(month)/06(day)/2013 shows up as: MDY....but I want it to be DMY = 06/03/2013

    Hope this helps!

You may be able to permanently fix the problem by changing the Windows 'Short Date Format'. See the following instructions from Microsoft:

My Windows "Short Date Format" is set to dd/MM/yyyy and has not changed. What has changed though is the Excel format for short date to dd-mm-yyyy (instead of a slash it has a dash).
    Any more ideas?

I have attached a spreadsheet. If the format of the cell in B2 is what you are looking for use the format painter to copy it to the desired cells on you spreadsheet. If this does not work I am out of ideas. Good luck

Thank you very much for trying to help me. Sorry, but it did not work. The date in your worksheet shows as 15-12-2013 instead of 15/12/2013. But, again, thanks anyway!
