Need auto updating calculation of daily sales needed to meet monthly sales goals

Example : I have a monthly sales goal of 12,000 which I track in excel. Everytime I have a sale I input it into my tracker which shoots out TOTAL sales for that month, and my % to goal. I would like an auto updating cell which pulls from my daily sales cells and gives me how much $ in sales I need per workday to be "on track" for the month. I envision a cell for each workday in the current month. If the sales do not reach the amount needed to be on track for the month it will increase the amounts in all remaining days to be able to meet goal. If i surpass daily goal it will decrease all further daily amounts needed for that month. I would very much appreciate any help from those far more knowledgeable than I with this programSales 2014.xls

Re: Need auto updating calculation of daily sales needed to meet monthly sales goals

That is not quite what I am looking for.. I am sorry my explanation was probably not worded the best. Lets say I have a goal of $12,000 for the month of October in total sales. If on the first day of October I sold $1,000. I would then like the ability to choose the amount of days that I plan on working for that month. It would then take $11,000 that I have left to meet my goal and divide it by the amount of days that I have planned to work. Ideally id like the ability to have an excel cell with the date, with a cell right next to it for the amount that I need to make to reach goal for that day. If you look at the sales tracking sheet that I uploaded to my intial post you will see that under the green heading titled JANUARY. I can put in the date that I make a sale, and in the cell next to it the amount. This updates the piece under ACTUAL near the top for total sales in january. I want another sheet which will auto update with the ACTUAL category to auto update the number I need to meet for sales PER DAY. Does that make sense? If not please ask and I will do my best to futher clarify!

    Hi mmaible2011

Sorry not to have responded sooner - quite a few happenings (and I'm sorry, but Excel does not figure in the top 50th percentile!)

Have you managed to sort something, or are you still looking for a solution?

    Regards
    Alastair
