Question Excel 2010 default save option is Excel 97-03

The same thing happens with Word.

How do I change the default save option to the newest version (Excel Workbook)?

    Go to

File -- Options -- Save -- Save files in this format -- Excel Workbook

You may have to close and re-launch Excel for changes to take effect
    Life's a spreadsheet, Excel!
