    Formula bar and text formatting

    Hi,

I'd like to "enable" text formatting in the formula bar. I am using excel to keep some paragraphs of text, but want to keep the concise layout of the spreadsheet in the same, default size cells. For example, there are several key words in the paragraph of text in one cell, which I would like to highlight using "bold" font and some other words which I would like to change their font colour to red. While this shows up when the cell is clicked, to reveal the text I need to widen the column and then click "wrap text". It would be far preferable if the formatting changes could simply show up in the formula bar, which I've lengthened so that it displays a few lines.

I like how entering text into the formula bar removes the original formatting, but then want to add my own (only bold font and colour changes). Any ideas or solutions much appreciated!

    Regards,

    Jeremy

Short answer: you can't do it.
